According to soundgenerator.com MTV has circulated a memo to its programmers asking them to "(essentially) censor all videos and artists with a political stance, message or images in any way relating to war." in order to reflect public sensitivity to the current war in Iraq.

The memo gives examples of videos to avoid, including the video to So Why So Sad, which includes images of tanks, grenades and tracer fire.

A copy of the memo can be found here, although whether this change to programming will be implemented, or how removal of SWSS makes MTV channels any different from normal remains to be seen.
